A Pioneering Scientist of High Power Laser
Professor Lin was a researcher at Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (SIOM), Chinese Academy of Sciences since 1964. As an innovative and productive scientist in high power laser, his exquisite pioneering work covers high-power laser physics plasma, high-power laser engineering unit, advanced optical test equipment and high-power laser engineering unit engineering and technology applications. He was elected the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003. Zunqi Lin, who died on May 28, 2018, was born in 1942 in Peking, China. Being curious about the wonders of the physics from his childhood, he graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1964. At SIOM, he had been engaged in the research and development of laser high-tech applications for 54 years. As a pioneer of Inertial Confinement Fusion science in China, he was a key member of the National High Technology 863 Group of Experts and a defining contributor to the research and development of China’s SG series high power laser devices. Professor Lin published more than 300 papers and received many honors including National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, CAS Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, etc. He mentored more than 40 graduate students and became one of the most respected and best-known scientists of his age. May Zunqi Lin rest in peace。 Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics Email: hxlin@siom.ac.cn Tel: 86-21-69918005 86-13701903331 |
