    Abstract: 

Ptychography is a recent development of coherent diffraction imaging. It overcomes the limitation of conventional coherent diffraction imaging by recording multiple diffraction data with overlapped sample illumination regions. The reconstruction algorithm has got to a very advanced stage that allows for recovering, besides the object, the illumination function, the scan position, and also the beam coherence. Ptychography has gain great popularity in the x-ray, electron imaging communities where high quality imaging devices are difficult to make. My talk will review the key developments of the technique with highlights of some of its applications for biological and physical samples.

    Brief Bio: 

Dr. Fucai Zhang is a senior research associate in the University College London. His primary research interest is developing novel imaging techniques with an emphasis on phase sensitivity and usability with radiations of short wavelength like x-rays and electrons. He has long-time research experiences on digital holography and coherent imaging. He was involved in the development of ptychography from its early dates. Currently he is implementing the single-shot coherent modulation imaging technique that he invented on transmission electron microscope and free electron laser.
