  报告摘要:

  Mode-locked fiber lasers offer practical advantages over solid-state counterparts.  However, the performance of fiber lasers has been lagged behind that of solid-state lasers historically.  In the seminar, the performance progress in mode-locked fiber lasers will be discussed emphasizing new laser designs at normal group velocity dispersion.  The behavior and performance of very recently developed techniques such as Mamyshev oscillators will be introduced. 

    

  报告人简历:

  Dr. Chong is an associate professor of the Department of Physics and the Electro-optics and Photonics Department at the University of Dayton.  He received his Applied Physics Ph.D. degree from Cornell University in 2008.  His research interests are in ultrafast nonlinear pulse propagation especially in fiber lasers and amplifiers.  He is also conducting researches in complex optical wave packets and their applications.
